SHREDDED DUCK WONTONS WITH TOMATO PRUNE DIPPING SAUCE
If you have never had deep fried wontons, you are missing out! This method (shown step by step in photos) gives you lovely plump filled bite and a satisfying crispy end that doubles as a handy little handle! If you're throwing a cocktail party, these are perfect as they can be made ahead and heated at the last minute.
If you are a lover of all things bacon, this is the best thing you will ever pop into your mouth...guaranteed! If you don't fancy spicy, don't worry at all. The cream filling smooths it all out, so you get a bit of heat and salty, of course, from the bacon.I'm dabbling with a Kato diet and this is GREAT!!
PINEAPPLE PROSCUITTO BITES
I was watching the food network some years ago (sorry, can't remember what it was) and saw these being made and it was always on my list of things to try to make but never really got to it. Then one day, I was making a pineapple salsa and had some left over, so I decided to give it a go. WOW!! It was absolutely amazing! Sweet, salty and deep fried crispy! Perfect combination.
I'm a newcomer to the Scotland, I was eager to try those foods that I had only heard of and haggis was certainly one of them. A bit apprehensive at first, I dove in and gave it a go! It is AMAZING! I just love the stuff. It's meaty and hearty. And, as most things in Scotland, a popular way to eat it is deep fried. So easy to make and satifying with a lovely spicy mayo.
SPICY SWEET BUTTER CHICKEN
There is nothing better than crunchy corn flakes coated chicken tossed in a spicy and sweet butter. Savoury and sweet and salty and crunchy...ticks all the boxes!!
CHEESY TOMATO PINWHEELS
This is perfect recipe when you need to throw something together to feed a crowd. Simple ingredients that you already have in your pantry, easy to assemble and can be made way ahead of time. Just wrap it up and bake when you need it. You can play around with extra ingredients if you like to use up any leftovers you have kicking around in the fridge.
FRENCH ONION POTATO SKINS
I know what you're thinking, potato skins are one of those throwback, dated appetizers from the 80's but I think they're tasty and maybe time for them to make a comeback. Jazz them with anything you like, as we all know, potatoes go with pretty much everything so you can go nuts...rest assured, there will be more recipes to come.
DEEP FRIED MAC AND CHEESE
Mac 'n' cheese is a favourite wherever you go. I recently made a batch and as usual, I made way too much. Beer battering and deep frying seemed the perfect solution. The perfect thing when hanging out in the kitchen and having a few too many cocktails. Dip these crispy, gooey bundles in a spicy sauce and you are in heaven. Guilty pleasure? Yes!
DEEP FRIED RAVIOLI
Whenever you make ravioli, you never really know how much you'll end up with and you somehow always end up with more than you need, not to mention some leftover sauce too. I decided to try breading and deeo frying them and they turned out amazing! While it may be delicate work, it's fairly straight forward and the whole gang will love these crispy bundles!
JERK LAMB JAMAICAN PATTIES
Lovely bundles of pastry and spicy, flavourful meat is a crowd pleaser. Simple and easy to make, I don't mind using shop bought pastry dough...there's no shame in it really. Enjoy!
PARMESAN POTATO CRISPS
These potato crisps are a great snack or hors d'oeuvres. Shape them into cool flowers, dollop some mustard aioli in the middle and you've got an insantly memorable take on chips and dip. Everyone takes a crisp and gets some dip along with it. These are insanely easy to make!
ROASTED TOMATO, ONION AND GARLIC PIZZA POPS
Pizza pops are something everyone loves! Kids and grownups. I wanted to make these a bit different, so I roasted all the ingredients and the flavour turned out amazing. Roasting the vegetables made them sweet but with a nice depth of flavour. I kept these simple, but you could add any of your favourite pizza topping. You could also cook them in the oven if you like.
LAMB STUFFED POTATO CROQUETTE
Got leftover mash and roasted lamb for last night's dinner? This is a really great idea to use them up and impress the whole clan you're feeding and they're really easy to make. You can even make them early in the day or the day before and toss them in the fridge. Then all you need to do is fry them up and keep warm in the oven until you're ready to serve. Whip up a quick tzatziki to dip.
