Corndogs, for me, are the quintessential food of my childhood! Nothing says summer and fairs quite like corndogs and they're actually very easy to make and tasted exactly like they should! Serve them up with some spicy mustard or ketchup.

Here's what you'll need

  • 8 hotdogs
  • 1¼ cups flour
  • ¾ cup cornmeal
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 8 wooden skewer
  1. first mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl

  2. then whisk in the eggs and milk

  4. now skewer the dogs

  5. holding the skewers, dip the dogs in the batter, let the some of the excess drip off and you may need to twirl it a bit to give the corndog a nice smooth end like you're used to seeing

  6. pop it into a preheated 350° deep fryer and start another, but remember not to overcrowd them or pop the next one in too early or they'll stick together

  7. fry them off for 5 minutes or so, or until a nice deep colour and a crisp exterior

  8. when they're ready, pop them onto a bit of paper towel to drain off the excess oil, and to let them cool a tiny bit...they're like molten lava otherwise :)

  9. that's it...serve 'em up with mustard or ketchup and dig in!
