Not only is the easiest way to make lovely flatbread, but it is ridiculously cheap and you can flavour it any way you like, making it so versatile that you can serve it with any main dish, as an accompaniment to dips or sauces, or even top them with just about anything for easy snacks. There are just three ingredients; water, flour and salt. That's it! Add spices, nuts, seeds, you can vary the flour for different flavours and textures...you're only limited by your imagination!

Here's what you'll need

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup water (roughly)
  • 1 tbsp salt
  1. dump the flour onto you counter and make a well in the centre

  3. pour in the water and salt

  4. using a fork, start to whisk bits of flour from the sides into the centre until a dough starts to form

  5. knead the dough for a good 10 minutes or so, adding flour as you need to avoid sticking

  6. wrap the dough ball in cling film and allow to rest for at least an hour

  8. when you're ready to cook them up, just heat up a frying pan, (leave it dry, don't add butter or oil)

  9. divide the dough into 12 equal balls

  10. roll out the dough balls with a rolling pin until about half an inch thick

  12. toss the bread, one at a time, onto the hot pan

  13. after a few minutes, carefully check the bottom and flip when it's nicely browned and cook another few minutes

  14. brush with a bit of olive oil, ghee, or butter and season any way you like

  16. keep them in a bit of foil to keep them warm as you continue to cook, better served warm alongside your latest culinary creation
