Pork...what is there to be said about pork. Bacon alone is so delicious, it will even make vegetarians question their life choice. Roasted, BBQ'ed, fried up...any way you like. This is a tasty, tasty animal!
I dedicate this page to pork and all those who love it. These are just a small handful of my favourites, with many more to come. Just click on the photo for the recipes!
ASIAN PORK NOODLE SALAD
If you've not delved into Thai cooking yet, this light noodle salad is a great start! Not too intimidating and is a good introduction to amazing Asian flavours. Lovely spicy, citrusy with an exotic touch. Give it a go!
MUSHROOM GRATIN CRUSTED PORK CHOPS
As a newcomer to the Ketogenic Diet, I came up with little number that was amazing! Garlicky mushrooms and blue cheese are a perfect topping for lovely pork chops (boneless) and pork rinds give you a nice crunchy texture that you can miss on this diet.
COLA PULLED PORK
This is the best thing you haven't made yet! Something magical happens when you mix pork with sweet and spicy liquid and slow cook for hours and hours. Pure heaven! One bit of advice, don't try to save on calories and attempt this with diet cola. It will not work, especially when reducing the stock at the end for the BBQ sauce, you need sugar!
PRUNE & TOMATO STUFFED PORK CHOPS, LENTILS & BRAISED CABBAGE
I found lovely pork chops that screamed to be stuffed. I had never tried that before, so it seemed like s good time. The stuffing was a perfect match. Sticky and thick enough, I didn't lose any to the pan. Served up with some green lentils and braised cabbage.
BACON WRAPPED, WHITE PUDDING STUFFED PORK TENDERLOIN
Triple pork action! What else is there to be said? I came across white pudding which is absolutely delicious, and one traditional way to use it (in Scotland) is to stuff it into chicken and wrap in bacon, but I got a really nice pork tenderloin and thought it would work...and it really did!
CUBAN PORK SANDWICH
My husband is behind this one. We got a pork roast and wondered what to do with it. We're both fans of pulled pork and BBQ sauce, but wanted to try something a bit different. That's when we wanted to try Cuban sandwiches that we'd seen on TV and in the movie "Chef" It was AMAZING! I highly recommend this recipe!
HAM HOCK CAKES WITH CHEESY AIOLI
These tasty and crisp little patties are a perfect vessel for ham hock. A cheap bit of pork, slow cooked for hours makes it perfectly delicious and tender. Mixed with potatoes, peas and mustard, battered and fried up crisp. A perfect combination. I suggest making the aioli ahead to really let the flavours meld together.
This pork is perfect combination of sweet, garlicky, salty, spicy and of course the all important sticky! Molasses, mustard and brown sugar are heated with a tender bit of pork to make a great sticky glaze that just begs to be eaten with your fingers so you can lick it all up.
BLUE CHEESE GUACAMOLE HOTDOG
Guacamole is as simple as it gets. Creamy and spicy with a nice sharpness of red onions. For this version, I tossed in some blue cheese and it works so well. I breaded a hotdog in corn flakes and deep fried it!
CHORIZO CHILLI QUESADILLA
I adore chorizo!! The flavours are so perfect and vibrant and present, that it is actually addictive and craveable. This chilli is a good marriage of Spain and Mexico...spicy and full of flavour with a dollop of sour cream.
BAHN MI PORK BURGER
Bahn mi is a perfect burger. Sweet, sour, spicy and salty all combined with savoury! Amazing! If you are not familiar with Vietnamese cooking or ingredients, this burger is a great way to get to know them. It's easy and not too overwhelming or scary. Give it a go!
CHEESY BLACK PUDDING PINWHEELS
After moving to Scotland last year, I have grown to love that once dreaded black pudding. Some may love it, some may hate it, but this may be a good way to introduce it as the black pudding is a bit more subtle in flavour.
ROAST PORK LEG, CIDER BRAISED CABBAGE AND APPLES & WHITE BEAN AND KALE
When winter is upon us, this is a lovely warm up. Nice contrast of rich and hearty with tangy and light. Not to mention maximizing electricity you're using by slow cooking a nice roast. You get a warm and tasty smelling house and you can to eat the benefits too!
MARINATED PORK SOUVLAKI
This pork will pack a punch! Really nice heat, herbacious and citrus kick and that all important fire kiss that makes any meat mouth watering. I would recommend marinating at least 24 hours. Then just roast up some peppers and onions and stuff into a warm pita with some cooling tzatziki.
BEER BRAISED PULLED PORK
Pulled pork is all the rage these days. Pulled pork is absolutely delicious and addictive. It is so versatile...throw it on a bun with fresh coleslaw, on a pizza with some peppers, in a taco, in an omelette...I could go on, but you get the idea.
BEER BRAISED PORK RIBS
If you love ribs, you loves beer. If you love beer, you'll love these ribs. Slow cooked in a dark ale, cilantro, parsley and lemon until fall off the bone. Throw them on the grill with homemade BBQ sauce. You get a great caramelized char we can't get enough of...sticky, sweet and addictive.
PORK STROGANOFF WITH TAGLIATELLE
Stroganoff is like a hug on a plate. Comforting, hearty and warm. Full flavours of mustard, white wine and rosemary are the perfect combination. Serve it up on some extra wide tagliatelle noodles to soak it all up...and don't forget a dollop of sour cream on top!
Beer lovers are not hard to please in general. These people love nothing more than a cold beer on a hot day. Who wouldn't get along with someone like that? If you want to impress this generally easy-going breed, you should start by cooking everything in their favorite libation....BEER! This chilli is sure to please.
